In Memoriam
In Memory of Brian CrookesCROOKES, Brian William Henry |
After a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, our dear friend and leader, passed away on July 2, 2012.
Brian joined Hallmark Tubulars in 1984 as an Account Manager and was instrumental in growing the business over the next 22 years. In 1999, he assumed the responsibilities of President & CEO, a position which he held until his retirement at the end of 2006.
While Brian’s business acumen was instrumental to the growth of the business, it was on the personal side where he had his greatest impact. He was always focused on the people over the transaction, and his caring and compassionate nature defined all that he did and, in many ways, helped define Hallmark.
Despite going through incredible trials and tribulations after his diagnosis with breast cancer in 2002, he demonstrated incredible courage and determination as he fought the disease. Despite eventually succumbing to this disease, in so many ways he DID conquer his cancer. Through his indomitable spirit, boundless optimism and strong faith he continued to truly LIVE a full life for years, continuously defying the prognosis of his doctors.
Brian is much loved by many of us and will be sorely missed, but he has left a legacy through the example he set for us. In an email just prior to our company Christmas party last year Brian provided us with some words of wisdom which deserve to be shared again:
“Tell them to live each day to meet your life expectations and enjoy each one. None of us have an endless road to travel. Hallmark is a great place to achieve your goals and have fun.”
Brian will always be in our hearts, and will be forever remembered for inspiring us and mentoring us to become better people. The world is a better place because of Brian and his legacy lives on.
